A Plain-English Guide to Dubai Desert Safari Packages

Blog Article

Picking a safari should be the easy part of your trip. But when you see ten different Dubai desert safari packages on one page, it's easy to get stuck. Should you go VIP? Is the Hummer worth it? Do you need a quad bike? This guide answers all of that in plain English.

At Dubai Safari Desert, we run trips all year round, from short sunrise trips to overnight stays. Here's how each package compares, so you can pick the right one in a few minutes.

Three Questions to Ask Yourself

Before comparing prices, ask yourself three quick questions:

• How much time do you have: a morning, an evening or a whole night?

• Do you want to drive yourself, or sit back and be driven?

• Do you want extra comfort, or is the standard camp fine?

Once you know the answers, the right package is usually obvious.

The Basics You Always Get

Whichever package you pick, a few things stay the same. Our camps follow a traditional Bedouin style, with low seats, warm lighting and lots of room. Dinner has both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Pickup and drop-off are confirmed 24 hours before your trip, so you're never left waiting and wondering.

We also run trips from Abu Dhabi for AED 140, plus city tours of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Hatta, if you want to explore more of the country.

An Evening in the Desert, Step by Step

Your driver picks you up in the early afternoon. After a while, the buildings disappear and the dunes begin. The driver lets some air out of the tyres, and then the dune bashing starts. The car goes up, over and down the dunes at angles that make everyone shout. It's bumpy, but it's a lot of fun.

Next, you stop on a high dune to watch the sunset. Then you drive to the camp for a camel ride, dinner and the shows. By about 9 PM, you're on your way back to your hotel.

What If I Get Car Sick?

Our drivers do this every day and know the dunes well. Seatbelts stay on the whole way. If you feel car sick easily, eat light and sit in the front. If you're pregnant, have a bad back or have a baby with you, tell us when booking, and we'll help you pick the right trip.

Questions We Hear Every Day

Why pick the Hummer?

If you want something different from a normal 4x4, yes. The Hummer is big and powerful, and the ride feels very different, and it makes for great photos.

Which package is best for families?

Families usually choose the AED 80 evening trip or the AED 120 VIP trip. Children enjoy the camel ride and the shows.

Do prices include pickup?

Yes, all our guided trips include pickup and drop-off. The self drive package is the only one where you drive yourself.

What should I wear?

Wear something light and loose, with comfortable shoes. In winter, a light jacket is a good idea for the evening.

Can I book for a big group?

Yes. Send us your group size and we'll arrange the right number of cars.
